This week's wacky stories from the Weird Wide Web:
Poopoo Land (In Seoul, South Korea. No shit.) In Japan, Combating the Coronavirus Calls for a Big Pink Cat (Japan is like, the coolest place on Earth). The Burryman (Scotland, man. Some of the baddest mofos on the planet live here. Man covers himself in spiky burrs). and last (butt) not least... Psychedelic Fungus Causes Cicadas’ Butts to Fall Off and Takes Their Place (They probably didn't mind, though. The cicadas. I mean. What fungus decides it wants to become a butt, though?)

Happy Eclipse Day for those of you on the West coast of the USA.
For the rest of us, happy Wednesday. Oh, but it's also a full moon, so that's cool. That's where the sweet name comes in. They're calling this the "Super Flower Blood Moon." That's awesome as hell! Read here: https://www.nbcnews.com/science/space/super-flower-blood-moon-2021-rcna1017 Binaural beats are a great relaxation/mediation tool. I use binaural and ambient playlists on Spotify to fall asleep...my brain is always going when I lie down so I need help falling asleep. Binaural, ambient relaxation and sleep music help. Relaxing through the day is a must, too. I've been taking a break with this website. There's some free ones to listen to and you can experiment.
https://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/binauralBrainwaveGenerator.php I hope to be able to find at least two weird articles a week to post on the home page. I can usually find more than that on any given day on Atlas Obscura or Random Times or any of the sites I find myself looking though on the weekends, exclaiming "WOW, COOL!" or "What the actual fluff?" Though I never say "fluff." Not ever ever.
OK, AO does have some good articles I found, and one is actually from this week! YAY! DISCLAIMER: the articles I post may not always be from the same week, year, or even decade. Don't bitch at me. If I find it that week and I think it is weird, I'm going to post it. Reminds me of an article I once found that had a date on it of September XX, 1911. Seriously. If I ever find that, I'm posting it just for shits. Here's the weird articles for this week: Radioactive Honey Preserves the Legacy of Nuclear Testing (Why do we always gotta fuck with the bees?) The Spectacular Science of the Great Lakes’ Glowing Rocks (Side story: This dude relates the story of himself and one of his rock-hunting groups having a UFO encounter in a recent book I read.) Behind the Walls of a Sports Bar, Remnants of Florida’s Early Years (A little local flavor, since I live in St. Petersburg). Parkland Walk: a walk along an abandoned railway line (One for my Weird Shit Bucket List. Though it is in London. I believe there's some kind of "goat-man" legend in the States, too. But it looks like you'd be taking a walk through a fantasyland, expecting fairies to pop up any minute. Creepy and cool! Bad Dreams Are Good (From the Atlantic. Not necessarily weird, but helpful if you have bad dreams). I have other websites.
My professional writing and editing website. My own fiction magazine website. I even have an online chapbook of my multi-modal short poetry. But this puppy...this one will be different. This one is not for absolutes... This one is for play and for enjoyment. For me to shake off the mediocrity and stress of the day-to-day and just write about the weird (but sometimes beautiful) stuff that make me excited thinking about them. It's for the preponderances of the out-of-the-ordinary, paranormal, highly strange and very, very unusual stuff that I come across, or that I have seen, or that someone else has told me about. It's for me to share my views on books/manga I read and anime/TV shows I've watched. It's a digital time capsule of the stuff I find bizarre, amusing, entertaining, and downright awesome or freaky or freaking scary... Brain candy. Brain rot. It's all here. |
